Pacific National, one of Australia’s leading rail freight operators, sought to improve the user experience of their customer portal. The goal was to replace the outdated FreightWeb system with a modern, self-service platform that would enable customers to book and manage freight, and access Pacific National's new products and services within a unified experience.

I was the front end lead in the discovery phase working closely with the client and third party vendors to architect and build the foundations for the new portal. Responsibilities also included effort estimations, recruiting and upskilling the front end team, documenting processes and guides and organising the CI/CD pipelines, all while understanding Pacific National's tech infrastructure.

The customer portal solution is a headless micro frontend architecture housed within a monofrepo. It included a unified design system, a web-based customer portal, and a companion mobile app—ensuring consistency and scalability across platforms.
